Jeff Foxworthy was born in Atlanta, GA.
Foxworthy started out at IBM in mainframe computer maintenance. While at IBM Foxworthy was encouraged to enter the Great Southeastern Laugh-off, which he won in 1984.
Soon, Foxworthy began appearing on comedy circuits around the county and in 1990 received the award for “Best Stand-Up Comic” at the 1990 American Comedy Awards. Foxworthy toured with Ron White, Larry the Cable Guy, and Bill Engvall on The Blue Collar Comedy Tour in the early 2000s.
Laughing Hyena Records helped launch Foxworthy’s career with records such as “Live 1989”, “You Might Be A Redneck”, “The Redneck Test”, “Sold Out”, “The Original”, and “King of the Rednecks.”
He is best known for his “You Might Be A Redneck” comedy routine, based on his observation of Southern American culture and behavior. This became a cultural phenomenon in the 1990s.
He has released several successful comedy albums, hosted and appeared in numerous television shows, and authored several books. Foxworthy has starred in his own television shows including “The Jeff Foxworthy Show” and “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?” In addition to his entertainment career, Foxworthy is also known for his philanthropic work and supports a number of charities and causes.
